San Francisco Ash Scattering and Burial At Sea

The San Francisco Bay is the most popular place in the world for scattering the ashes of loved ones. Many people have such a strong connection with these waters that their last wishes are to be scattered in the Bay. The San Francisco Sailing Company has helped many families with their loved ones wishes and we make it easy to scatter ashes in the San Francisco Bay.

The captain and crew will sail your group from Pier 39 to anywhere you want to go, usually under the Golden Gate Bridge, off Sausalito, or in the central Bay. Typically two hours is enough time to get under the Golden Gate Bridge for scattering. Once the appropriate spot is reached we stop the boat and allow time for the burial at sea ceremony.

Our largest boat the Privateer is perfect for ash scattering events. With beautifully varnished wood work and warm teak decks she is a great alternative to the cold impersonal steel boats some people use for their ceremonies.

The San Francisco Sailing Company understands that ash scatterings are normally somber occasions. Whether you want to mourn the deceased death or celebrate their life, our crew will act appropriately. Just call and we set up everything.
