About San Francisco Sailing Company
The San Francisco Sailing Company started as a school project for San Francisco State University's MBA program. The assignment was to create a business plan and website for a fictitious business. The presentation was well received, we got an A, and the company was born.
Our mission is to become the most recognized sailing company in San Francisco. We promise to always maintain our boats, staff, and products to the highest standards in the industry. We are a customer focused business, everything we do everyday is aimed at providing a safe and enjoyable experience for our customers.
As Professor Ungson told us,
"If you provide the highest quality products at the lowest price, you will be very hard to beat."
The San Francisco Bay is one of the most famous bodies of water in the world. Every year millions of people come to the area just to look at it and it keeps a special place in the hearts of everyone who has ever laid eyes on it.
Few places in the world posses as much kinetic energy as the San Francisco Bay. With 1/6 of the entire bay emptying and refilling twice a day and strong consistent winds, its like a giant natural battery charger. The Bay stirs something inside of people, being close to something so energized gives us peace, perspective, and passion.
Captain Erik Ostrander is a U.S. Merchant Marine Officer, master of steam, motor or auxiliary sail vessels of up to 50 gross registered tons. His knowledge of sailing and seamanship as well as the local waters and landscapes provides our passengers with safe, informative, and above all fun experiences on the Bay.
"One of the best things about sailing on the SF bay are the area's microclimates. We can leave San Francisco with the temperature at 55 degrees and consistent winds of 20-25 knots. In minutes we will be in a dead calm enjoying 90 degree weather in the lee of Angel Island. If you know where to go, any type of sailing condition you want can be had on any day on the Bay!"
